Through WordSwords, I offer proofreading and copyediting as a collaborative service. We work together to improve the clarity, structure and expression of your writing while keeping your intended meaning and individual voice at the centre of the process.
Documents I Can Help With
I consider a wide range of writing, including letters, articles, reports, promotional material, stories, novels, presentations, essays, dissertations, research papers and theses. With two Masters degrees and a PhD in linguistics research, I have particular experience with academic writing.
My Approach
My usual process involves two rounds of feedback on successive drafts, working mainly through email and Microsoft Word documents. Depending on the document, feedback may address organisation, logic, formatting, grammar, spelling, word choice and consistency. The aim is to help prepare your work for its intended readers while supporting your independence as a writer.
You can choose just one round of feedback if that better suits your needs or timeframe.
Before beginning work, you will sign a work agreement and agree to half payment up front. The remaining work will be paid before the final version of your work is released back to you. This protects the interests and service boundaries of Dr Kat Mac Industry.
Timeframes and Fees
For documents under 15,000 words, I generally return first-round feedback within 3–5 days. You can then take up to five days to revise your draft, with second-round feedback generally returned within 1–3 days. Timeframes for larger works are agreed individually, and a faster turnaround may attract an additional rush fee.
Fees are based on word count, with lower per-word rates for larger manuscripts. For documents of 15,000 words or more, a second round of feedback attracts an additional 50% of the first-round fee. I will confirm the scope and final price before work begins.
